“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” -Jesus
Just an observation, but I notice Jesus doesn’t say “become indignant,” “stand up for your rights,” or “condemn your enemies.” He just says “rejoice and be glad.”
Elsewhere, He says, “Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you.”
These words are hard to follow, but also very freeing. We don’t have to repay in kind; we can just repay in kindness.
